Finsbury Park garden
Still in its infancy, this long, skinny townhouse garden was transformed from a chest-high plot of weeds, to a naturalistic, eco-friendly haven for its' owner and the wildlife she wanted to attract.
Hard landscaping was kept to a minimum, for both ecological and budgetary reasons - which also happened to make it an winning entry to the Society of Garden Designers annual awards in the Sustainable Design category.
The garden includes a path formed of chippings from recycled wooden pallets, a wildlife pond, and planting to attract pollinators, birds and visiting mammals.

What the Judges said:
'A lovely garden demonstrating a sensitivity to the environment in its design, plants, planting and materials. The simple things usually work best and here this is the essence of a subtly worked design.'
